I wandered upon this place walking around. The time was 2 PM and I needed a quick bite after not eating anything all day. Barcook looked like a cute, clean shop. There were many pastries available at that time though running low on the Kouign Amanns and Ham and Cheese Croissants. The pastries tasted fresh even mid day and weren't stale. I didn't get the raisin cream bun which they're known for for pleased with my selections. Chicken Curry Bun - Very light round bun, not much chicken slightly sweet. Tasted of cumin, turmeric, filled with peas and carrots. Kouign Amann - Crispy, caramelized and fluffy texture. Didn't have the runny butter sugar inside I expect of kouign amanns so it was more like a fancy cro-nut in composition, but still really tasty and exceeded my expectations for S$2.50 pastry.

The bakery was started off around 2009 selling buns at neighbourhood bakery prices right in CBD area, with an outlet in One Raffles Place (also known OUB centre back then) and another in Hong Lim Centre. The hot seller back then was its Cheese and Raisin Bread at $1.30 each. The bakery has since moved to another unit in the building, with its range of buns expanded too. Cheese Croissant ($2.80) Light and crispy outside, while inside was soft and buttery. I like that there was a huge stick of cheese in it. Potato Sausage Danish ($.210) Anything with nacho cheese sauce on top was heaven and sinful to me. It was a wicked combination. Canelé ($2.4) I was surprised to find this in a neighbourhood type of bakery. Outside it was caramlised although I would prefer it with a firmer texture, inside it was soft and spongy. Service was fast and smoothly. Best decide what you want before joining as it moves quite fast.

If you're into baked goods, Barcook Bakery is a small window that has a nice selection of fine baked goods. I had the raisin cream bread that was probably the most impressive raisin cream bread I've had. Why? They were generous with their filling, plenty of raisins and cream. The bread was light so you mostly taste the filling. It's always fresh because there is always a steady stream of customers getting their baked goods. I didn't get to try out their other stuff, but I'm sure you can't go wrong here. Now if only they had a cafe to sit in to go with the baked goods, that would be fantastic!

Barcook Bakery never fails to have a queue whenever I am at Raffles Place, and the main reason for this must be the warm, fluffy and addictive Raisin Cream Cheese Buns. First of all, the buns are very light and when it is fresh out of the oven, they are fluffy. No doubt, the warm cream cheese that ooze out of these warm fluffy buns is highly addictive, a perfect comfort food to have during these rainy days or during work. This is no doubt one of the best discoveries I have made in the Raffles Place area. Highly recommended!

Barcook Bakery does it well, and does it so so good. There's always that long queue in the morning, so I try to avoid it and go in the afternoon instead, where the breakfast crowd has subsided and half the Raffles Place population have been chained to their screens. I believe that the secret to their goodness lies in the fact that they are capable of getting such a great turnover rate at this location, which means that they can keep baking fresh goodies all day round, without them being left in the display to go stale. Which is why each bun you pick up is bound to be a little warm, a little crispy, and very good. I'm a huge fan of their garlic bread, as long as you're not going for an interview after that. Well, it isn't that garlicky, just that I get fairly conscious about it. Otherwise the taste is great as it has that bit of cheesy crispy layer on it, and that much buttery goodness. As a bakery, I'm not sure how you get any better.

I LOVE BARCOOK . I always queue up here at about 4pm for my 'tea-time' snack. While all my friends adore the raisin and cheese bread, I'm not a big fan of it as it's not to my taste. What I really love (and have gotten everyone to try) is their BBQ pork floss bun... I mean... it's char siew pork in a bun and topped with pork floss... what's not to love?! I've also tried some of their other buns, including their cheese bun (quite good) and sausage bun. While they taste pretty good I wouldn't say they're exceptionally amazing. My favourite is still the BBQ pork floss bun.

If you are a fan of bakeries, good news! This bakery chain serves excellent bread for working crowd in the CBD area, be it breakfast or high tea snack. One of my favourite bread is the raisin cream bun and undoubtedly that is their signature dish As compared to other bakeries, the raisin cream is rich in texture and filling. Please note that this is one of the popular bread that gets sold out early. The popularity of the store attributes to its freshness of the bread. This is due to the preparation of bread in the store. If you have time, you can wait for the fresh oven baked bread and I must say the taste will be awesome.

One of my favourite bakeries - I'm so glad they have an outlet in the CBD as they make the perfect breakfast or afternoon snack! There is a queue every morning and every lunchtime - testimony to their fantastic breads. What sets this bakery apart is the freshness of the bread - everything is baked on the premises, in fact you're really buying it straight out of the oven - I've had to wait on more than one occasion to buy their famous raisin and cream cheese bread. If you've never tried piping hot cream cheese in a bun that melts out when you bite into it, you are really missing out. Trust me it is worth the wait! The rest of the buns pale in comparison to the cream cheese and raisin bun - but they are still fantastic :)
